System Configuration
System Configuration包含Measurement&Automation Explorer (MAX)、I/O Trace和Device Monitor。

System Requirements
-------------------
NI System Configuration for Linux software for the Intel x86 32-bit and x64
64-bit architectures has been tested on the following distributions:
  * Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  * Scientific Linux 6
  * OpenSUSE 12.3 and 13.1
For more information about supported Linux versions and distributions supported
by National Instruments, refer to ni.com/linux.

NI System Configuration for Linux requires at least 35 MB of disk space.

------------
Installation
------------
The installation process compiles a small amount of code to customize
the software to your installation.  Before running the installer, you must have
the following compiler facilities installed from your Linux distribution CD
or other Linux distribution medium:

* The kernel source files that exactly correspond to the kernel version
  you are running
* The GCC compiler and C++ support
* The make utility

Use the software-install facility of your Linux distribution to verify that the
above-listed packages are present. You can then begin installation.
Complete the following steps to install NI System Configuration:

Run the INSTALL script from this directory as root. The INSTALL script
ensures that all requirements are met and installs the NI System Configuration
software. The script installs the software into /usr/local and uses rpm to
install the package on the system.

FAQs
----
Q1: What action needs to be taken if I upgrade/change my kernel?

A1: Some action is required to make the existing NI System Configuration
    installation work for the new kernel. After upgrading your kernel,
    run updateNIDrivers utility as root. The utility is located in
    /usr/local/bin. Be sure to have sources for your new kernel properly
    installed on your system before running the utility. The utility
    rebuilds the driver using the new kernel sources and copies it to
    the appropriate location for the new kernel. For the changes
    to take place, you will be asked to reboot your machine after the
    utility completes.

Q2: During installation I get a message similar to the following one:
    "Kernel source does not appear to be configured for the running kernel.
    Configuration of kernel source is required to continue installation."
    I do have kernel sources installed; is there anything else that needs to
    be done?

A2: This problem has been seen on SUSE LINUX Professional 9.1 running the 2.6.5
kernel or newer versions of SUSE LINUX Professional. However, it is possible
that other distributions will require similar steps to resolve this problem.

    On SUSE LINUX Professional complete the following steps:
    1. Ensure you have installed kernel-source and kernel-syms packages
       corresponding to the version of the currently running kernel. The version
       of the currently running kernel can be determined by issuing the command
       `uname -r`.
    2. Change the directory to the /usr/src/linux-<version> directory, where
       <version> corresponds to the currently running kernel version.
    3. Run "make cloneconfig" as root to configure the sources for the
       currently running kernel.
    4. Run "make modules_prepare" as root to prepare the headers for
       compilation.
    5. THIS STEP IS STRICTLY OPTIONAL. Completing this step removes the
       warning:
       WARNING: Symbol version dump /usr/src/linux/Module.symvers is missing,
                modules will have CONFIG_MODVERSIONS disabled.
       Run "make modules" as root to compile all modules and generate
       Module.symvers; this step may take 30 minutes or more to complete.
    6. Run the INSTALL script for the NI System Configuration software for Linux
       from this directory.

-----------------
Linux Limitations
-----------------
Some features discussed in the NI System Configuration documentation and help
are unavailable on Linux.

- NI System Configuration supports two application development environments:
  * LabVIEW 2012 or later
  * C and C++ (gcc)

  NI System Configuration does not support LabWindows/CVI for Linux.

- When using NI System Configuration in a PXI system, several restrictions
  apply:
  * Control through MXI-4 is supported, but MXI-3 is not.
  * Certain embedded controllers may be recommended over others for use in
    Linux.
  * There may be some restrictions related to routing triggers, events, and
    clocks over the PXI backplane on some PXI chassis models.

- External calibration functions are not supported.  Refer to your hardware
  documentation for information about external calibration, and refer to
  ni.com/calibration.  If your hardware requires external
  calibration, either perform the calibration on a Windows system, or hire
  National Instruments or an independent calibration laboratory to perform the
  calibration.
